We believe that sustainable practice should be instinctive
Whether at home, in the office or with our clients, we are determined to make sustainability 'Second Nature'.
So, we've embarked on an ambitious programme, to inform and energise our own people and the people we work with.
'Second Nature' is about living life in a way that ensures the people and the surroundings we take for granted today are still around tomorrow.
It's not an empty policy statement to help us tick a few boxes; it's about creating a sustainable commercial culture through a deep and lasting behavioural change.
Step by step, we are educating and engaging our colleagues, clients and suppliers alike to think and act responsibly. From reducing waste, pollution and carbon emissions to looking after our workforce and local community, verifiable and sustainable social, economic and environmental practice is core to the our way of life.
It's not just about being GREEN......it's about PEOPLE!

What have we been doing?

Creative Education with the Northern Art Prize
The past few months seem to have flown by, and we are now fast approaching the opening of the 4th annual Northern Art Prize exhibition. As excited as we are about seeing the work of Alec Finlay, Lubaina Himid, David Jacques and Haroon Mirza, we are just as excited about the new Northern Art Prize project being launched this autumn.
Working in partnership with Leeds City Council, Leeds Ahead, and with support from Leeds Metropolitan University and Find Your Talent, we have developed a community engagement programme for the Northern Art Prize to engage a younger and broader audience with contemporary visual art.
UpstART will provide a unique opportunity for a selected group of 16-18 year old Looked After Children (LACs) who are able to demonstrate creative potential and an interest in art. The group will participate in a structured series of workshops and coaching sessions delivered by artists and creative industry professionals and supervised by UpstART Project Leader Shelley Hollingdrake. The programme will focus on introducing the participants to unusual and non-traditional art practices, challenging them to reconsider the age old question of ‘what is art?’ and encouraging them to think creatively about how art is created and interpreted.
Stimulating creativity through the silly and unusual, the practical workshops will encourage the young people to see art both as a means of personal expression and an avenue to a professional career. The coaching sessions will give the participants direct access to positive and creative role models, helping to raise their aspirations and self-confidence, and encouraging them to explore the wealth of opportunities that are available to them in the creative sector.
This pathfinder project will run in parallel with the Northern Art Prize exhibition, which will be held in the Leeds Art Gallery from 26 November 2010 until 6 February 2011.
