Inspire.Create is a free event, combining an exhibition of budding creatives’ graphic and digital design work with a series of seminars and workshops in a bid to support Yorkshire’s young blood.
At the inaugural event in Leeds last month, students and freelancers were given the chance to showcase their talent to the region’s media and digital sector through a competition. The work was voted on initially via a blog by the public, with the top entries put on show on the day.
We were in line to pick the winner at the event, which we found rather difficult. The work was diverse and without being in context almost exists as art. We tried to introduce our own selection rules; is it current, relevant and primarily does it show some skills?
Workshops and seminars were held by Ogilvy, jelly London, Coolpink, Clearsilver, Creative England and What!? The event provided a great opportunity to network with fellow industry creatives and make contact with students with heaps of potential. Overall the event had a great atmosphere and a genuine collaborative agenda.
